Rosewood snaps two-game skid against Princeton

PRINCETON -- Rosewood held archrival Princeton to just 96 yards of total offense and the Eagles walked off with a 27-6 win in the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season finale for both teams Friday evening.

"We picked a good time to play our best game of the season on defense," said Eagles head coach Robert Britt. "We were able to run the ball and stop the run, which for us is usually the key to getting a win."

Shane Whitley opened the scoring for Rosewood with a one-yard plunge in the first quarter. Jamie Wooten added a 15-yard scoring scamper to open the second quarter.

Princeton got back in the game on the following possession when Austin Jacobs hit Tyler Craft on a 61-yard scoring strike. The momentum was short-lived, however, as Rosewood answered with a 30-yard touchdown run by Whitley. Wooten added his second rushing touchdown in the second half to cap the scoring.

Whitley finished with 125 yards on 30 carries. Wooten added 50 yards on 12 totes. Rosewood won the game without completing a pass.

Jacobs led the Dawgs' attack with 88 yards passing on 10 completions.

Rosewood (4-7 overall, 2-3 CC) leads the all-time series 30-9 and snapped Princeton's modest, two-game win streak between the archrivals.
