Three weeks remain in regular-season action as high school football teams in the News-Argus readership area reach the halfway point of their respective conference campaigns tonight.

The playoff picture should become a little clearer ... or more muddled depending on outcomes of the eight games on the slate.

Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference leader Eastern Wayne (6-2 overall) plays host to Charles B. Aycock for a critical contest. The Golden Falcons have won seven of the nine meetings since 2001 and look to deal the Warriors their first loss in ECC play this season.

Also in the ECC, Southern Wayne plays host to South Johnston, while Triton is the guest of North Lenoir.

Rosewood heads to "The Swamp" in search of its first Carolina 1-A Conference victory in 2010. Spring Creek is 1-1 in conference play after suffering a shutout road loss at Ayden-Grifton a week ago.

North Duplin welcomes league co-leader Ayden-Grifton to H.E. Grubbs Field in Calypso. The Rebels also seek their first conference victory of the year.

Defending Carolina champion Goldsboro is the guest of Princeton, which will celebrate Hall of Fame Night at the Fred Bartholomew Jr. Athletic Complex. The latest induction class is the late Bobby Kenneth "Deacon" Jones, Laura Sugg Daughtry, Tammy Woodring Holt, Kenny Meekins and Bryan W. Massey Sr.

The group will be inducted at halftime.

James Kenan puts its modest two-game win streak on the line at home against Tri-County 1-A foe Midway. And Greene Central plays host to Eastern Plains 2-A opponent Kinston.

All games kick off at 7:30 p.m.
