Triton, in fewer than 15 minutes, sucked the emotion of senior night right out Little Big Horn on Monday evening.

Daniel Goff scored goals in the ninth and 11th minutes in the Hawks' 2-0 win over Eastern Wayne in their Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference boys' soccer match.

Goff scored off W.A. Myatt's assist in the ninth minute. He found the back of the net two minutes later, off Edgar Ortiz's assist.

"We just were not focused," said Warriors' head coach Jorg Wagner. "We defended those two goals very poorly. You cannot give Triton a 2-0 lead and expect with a mediocre effort to come out a winner."

Goff just missed extending the lead to o 3-0 as his shot hit the post in the 17th minute.

Eastern Wayne struggled to generate any offensive momentum throughout the first half. Passes often wound up at the feet of Hawks' defenders and too often, Warriors attempted to dribble through the Triton defense.

The Hawks held an 8-4 edge in shots on goal in the first half.

"Did we test the keeper?" said Wagner. "No. Half the passes we played didn't end up where they should have gone."

Eastern Wayne keeper Jordan Ferguson kept the score at 2-0 with a diving save on Parker Tart's shot in the 51st minute. Ferguson finished with seven saves.

The Warriors began to mount some offensive pressure during the final 20 minutes. Kyle Sasser's free kick from the top of the 18-yard box in the 58th minute sailed high.

Joseph Chaney's header off Rafael Guerra's corner kick was saved by Triton keeper Brendan Turlington. Jason Horne's shot in the 71st minute was saved by Turlington.

Turlington saved Ryan Allison's shot in the 72nd minute. Allison's header in the 73rd minute went wide. Sasser's free kick in the 75th minute hit the post and his shot in stoppage time was saved.

Eastern Wayne (6-8-0, 6-5-0 ECC) could have moved into third place in the ECC with a victory after defeating county rivals Charles B. Aycock and South Johnston last week. Instead, the Warriors conclude the regular season with a pivotal game at North Lenoir on Wednesday.

"We could have moved into third and now we have to worry about finishing fourth," said Wagner. "I think our flesh was willing, but the mind was weak."
