MOUNT OLIVE -- Sarah Porter notched a school-record five goals and Mount Olive College hammered Converse (S.C.) 7-1 on the Conference Carolinas women's soccer scene Wednesday.
Porter tied the NCAA Division II single-game high for goals this season and is just one of two players nationally to collect five goals in a single game. The Trojans, meanwhile, clinched a spot in the season-ending league tournament.
Becky Sanzole recorded four assists -- a single-match high in Division II this season. However, it's one shy of the MOC school record. Lindsey Stanley added two goals and two assists for the Trojans.
Porter shares the school's single-match, goal-scoring record with Gina Dos Santos (2005 vs. North Greenville) and Jennifer Domino (1998 vs. Chowan).
MOC (7-7-1, 4-4-0 CC) entertains Limestone (S.C.) College on Saturday. The contest is part of Mount Olive's "Pink for the Cure Weekend" in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donations will be collected for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of and cure for breast cancer.

MOUNT OLIVE -- Vieux Sarr scored in the 86th minute and Mount Olive attempted two game-tying shots in the final 60 seconds, but dropped a 2-1 decision to UNC Pembroke on Wednesday evening.
The Trojans cut the Braves' advantage in half when Tyler Jameson played a ball to Marcus Kruger right of the box. Kruger crossed to Sarr, who headed the ball in at 85:25 and pulled the Trojans within a goal.
Mount Olive (3-10-1 overall) had a pair of opportunities to tie in the final minute, but Alex Rodgriguez's shot with 54 seconds left was just wide of the left post and Chris McClaugherty's 24-yard attempt with 12 seconds remaining went over the crossbar.
The Trojans play host to Limestone on Saturday.
