* WILSON -- Eastern Wayne did not give up a single point in three of its singles conquests en route to a 9-0 win at South Johnston on Wednesday. The match was the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opener for both teams.
Miller Delbridge, Janielle Daniel, Grace Delbridge, Amber Miller, Joann Talton and Jackie Johnson each prevailed during singles play.
The tandems of Miller Delbridge-Grace Delbridge, Daniel-Talton and Miller-Johnson each won their respective doubles match.
Eastern Wayne (2-2 overall, 1-0 ECC) travels to Cleveland High School today.
Wilson Fike 9, C.B. Aycock 0
* WILSON -- Wilson Fike dominated singles play en route to a 9-0 victory over Charles B. Aycock on Wednesday afternoon.
Tiffany Godwin was the top Golden Falcon performer in a 7-6 (5), 6-3 defeat at the hands of Annah-Claire Summerlin. Kimber Pender also lost a close match in singles 6-4, 7-6 (6) to Fike's Sydney Jones.
C.B. Aycock (0-3 overall) entertains North Lenoir Today.
Volleyball
C.B. Aycock 3, Greene Central 0
* SNOW HILL -- The Golden Falcons never faltered in a 25-12, 25-13, 25-20, non-conference win over Greene Central on Wednesday night.
Bailee Hughes paced the Golden Falcons with 16 kills and seven aces. Connor Davis added seven kills. Rachel Jordan was the team leader in assists.
Kaitlyn Napier led the Rams with five kills and two blocks. Peri Dail added three kills and three blocks.
Greene Central (2-3 overall) travels to Ayden-Grifton today. C.B. Aycock (3-1) visits Triton on Tuesday in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opener for both teams.
Princeton 3,
Corinth Holders 0
* PRINCETON -- Linda Smith dished out 18 assists as Princeton easily defeated Corinth Holders 25-9, 25-15, 25-20 on Wednesday.
Kaitlyn Peedin finished with a team-high 10 digs. Savanna Massengill tallied four kills and two blocks. Traci Bridgers served five aces.
Princeton (4-1 overall) travels to North Johnston today.
North Johnston 3, North Duplin 1
* KENLY -- North Duplin fell behind in the first two sets and could never recover en route to a 25-15, 25-16, 21-25, 25-17 defeat against North Johnston on Wednesday.
Tearra Ammons delivered eight kills and five digs in the four-set loss. Hannah Brock dished out 13 assists and finished with three aces. Angelica Favela and Skylar McCarty each tallied four kills.
North Duplin (1-3 overall) entertains Hobbton today.
Golf
Lane Tree LGA
* Eileen Henderson and Libby Newsome shared game-of-the-week honors during tournament play on the Lane Tree Golf Club links for Aug. 16-22. Nan Jarrell and Betty Jean Gurley seized low net and low putts, respectively. During Aug. 9-15 play, Linda Watson claimed game-of-the-week honors. Libby Newsome won low net and Mary Ann Sutton took low putts.
JV sports
* Boys' soccer: C.B. Aycock 1, Fike 0 -- Collin Zacharzuk collected the game-winning goal off Arnuifo Diaz's assist in the 40th minute. Golden Falcon keepers Israel Flores and Jordan Bailey combined for the shutout in goal. It was Aycock's season-opening game.
* Volleyball: North Johnston d. North Duplin 25-21, 25-23 -- Jessica Jones led the Rebels with four aces and two kills. Jasmine Jones and Lyndsie Harrell each added two kills respectively.
* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Greene Central 25-15, 25-11 -- Amber Rose led the Golden Falcons (2-1 overall) with seven aces.
