SEVEN SPRINGS -- Whether it's from one inning to another, or from one game to the next, good teams have short memories.

After watching a lead slip away the night before, Charles B. Aycock saw another one disappear on Wednesday. Unfazed by the situation, the Golden Falcons fought back.

Aycock watched its 2-0 lead evaporate, but rallied to score five runs in the final two innings for a 7-4, Junior American Legion victory at Spring Creek.

The Gators led 4-2 in the top of the sixth inning until Collin DuBose's two-out, two-run double scored Adam Pate and Tyler Farmer to tie the game at 4-4.

Bryant Stafford reached on an error to lead off the top of the seventh. The Gators committed an error on Josiah Laser's bunt attempt, which allowed Stafford to score and Laser to advance to second base.

A third consecutive error on Justin Barbour's bunt attempt put runners on the corners with no outs. Hunter Jones drew a walk from Spring Creek reliever Zack Harrell and Travis Musselman delivered a sacrifice bunt to score Laser.

Pate's sacrifice fly gave the Golden Falcons a 7-4 lead. Aycock scored three runs in the inning without tallying a hit.

"We gift wrapped it for them that one inning," said Spring Creek coach Heath Whitfield. "They didn't get the ball out of the infield except for that sacrifice fly and got three runs. We sort of gift wrapped it for them. We sort of broke down under pressure."

DuBose pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief of starter Aaron Champion. He allowed one earned run on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts to earn the win on the mound. He also went 3 for 4 at the plate with two RBI.

"Collin DuBose has toted us this whole summer," said Aycock head coach Nelson Cunningham. "That was a big hit he got with two outs to tie the game. He stepped up on the mound for me. To be honest, he's just been my leader."

Four consecutive RBI singles from Ricky Brayboy, Harrell, Chris Nichols and Wyatt Janning gave the Gators a 4-2 advantage in the home half of the fourth. Harrell collected two hits and an RBI.

Barbour's RBI double and Musselman's RBI single gave the Golden Falcons a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Musselman went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.

Aycock (9-2 overall) travels to Wayne South today, while Spring Creek (4-4) visits Wilson on Friday.
