Wayne Country Day got a complete-game effort on the pitcher's mound from Cameron Ford in a 10-6 win over Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Friday afternoon.

Ford allowed 10 hits and struck out five batters in the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference contest.

Stoan Stewart led the Chargers at the plate with three hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Cody Neal added three hits and Cole Davis reached base twice.

Wayne Country Day (9-6 overall, 3-0 CPIC) plays host to Greenfield on Tuesday.

Gators dominate

Spring Creek started out hot offensively and never looked back in a 22-4 win over Goldsboro in Carolina 1-A Conference baseball play Friday evening.

Dontay Boseman, Duane Gurganus and Ricky Brayboy each tallied two hits in the win. Hunter Barnette emerged as the winning pitcher.

A.J. Lane led the Cougars with two hits.

Spring Creek (8-6 overall, 3-1 CC) entertains North Duplin on Tuesday, while Goldsboro (0-7, 0-4) is the guest of Ayden-Grifton.

Eagles top Rebels

CALYPSO -- Rosewood scored five runs in the third inning en route to a 7-4 win over North Duplin on Friday night.

Will Winslow led the Eagles with two hits and two RBI. Cody Harris and Taylor Price each reached base twice. Will Beasley earned the mound win and struck out six.

North Duplin was led by Shayne Deaver's three-hit night. Julio Mora added one hit and three RBI.

The Rebels (9-3 overall, 2-2 CC) travel to Spring Creek on Tuesday, and the Eagles (8-6, 4-0) play host to archrival Princeton.

Rams win

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central kept the offensive pressure on throughout its 12-2 victory over Eastern Plains 2-A Conference foe Wilson Beddingfield on Friday night.

Will Bynum led the Rams with three hits. Will Crandle added two hits and an RBI.

Zach Chase tossed a six-inning complete game and struck out 13 Bruins en route to the win on the pitcher's mound.

Greene Central (13-5 overall, 6-1 EPC) will play host to Tarboro on Tuesday.

Faith prevails

Faith Christian wasted no time putting away Mount Cavalry 18-8 on Friday afternoon in a game that was shortened by the mercy rule.

Silas Denlinger picked up the win on the pitcher's mound by tossing four innings and striking out six.

Michael Clark delivered the Conquerors' biggest offensive punch with a grand slam home run.

Faith Christian entertains Bethel Christian on Monday.

Tigers pounce

CLINTON -- James Kenan rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and claimed a 7-5 victory over Tri-County 1-A foe Union on Friday night.

Tyler Haney led the Tigers with two doubles and two RBI. Kedron Foster and Justin Blanton each added two hits respectively.

Ricky Langston recorded the win on the pitcher's mound. Langston toosed fiv innings and recorded nine strikeouts.

James Kenan (6-6 overall) entertains Pender on Tuesday in a critical conference matchup.

Soccer

Chargers triumph

WHITEVILLE -- Mack Thompson registered the hat trick (three goals) in Wayne Country Day's 4-2, non-conference victory over Waccamaw Academy.

Catherine Ford added one goal.

The Chargers (9-4-0 overall) travel to Faith Christian-Rocky Mount on Tuesday.

Track

White takes two

FOUR OAKS -- Senior Will White emerged victorious in two individual events, and Eastern Wayne finished second during an Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference boys' track meet at South Johnston.

White posted a regional-qualifying time of 15.2 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, and followed that with a 43.15-second clocking in the 300.

Adrian Thompson claimed second in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Kahleel Sarah (discus), Dashon Brown (400) and Leslie Cox (800) each posted second-place times in their respective events.

Brown took third in the 200.

Brandon Williams ended up fourth in the triple jump and 300 hurdles. Chris Hines was fourth in the shot put.

The host Trojans won the tri-meet with 76 points, followed by the Warriors with 50 and Southern Wayne with 24.

Softball

Dawgs cruise

PRINCETON -- Traci Bridgers delivered 12 strikeouts over six innings of work as Princeton handled Carolina 1-A Conference rival Ayden-Grifton 9-0 on Friday night.

Hannah Woodard led the Dawgs at the plate with two hits, including a home run. Hannah Wood added two knocks including a double. Megan Myers belted one hit and tallied two RBI.

Princeton (8-4 overall, 3-0 CC) travels to Rosewood on Tuesday.

Rebels rise

CALYPSO -- Alonna Pate tossed a complete game as North Duplin bested Rosewood 6-5 on Friday night.

Pate scattered five hits and struck out three Eagle batters.

Skylar McCarty paced the Rebels offense with three hits, including a double. Ansley Hill added two hits and stroked the game-winning, fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh inning.

"We hit the ball much better than we have been," said Rebels head coach Heather Best. "I'm really proud of my girls and what we were able to accomplish tonight."

North Duplin (2-7 overall, 1-2 CC) travels to Spring Creek on Tuesday.

JV sports

* Baseball: Southern Wayne 7, Triton 6 -- Southern Wayne battled back from a four run deficit in the final inning. The Saints batted around in the top of the seventh and Jamar Holmes closed the dorr with a scoreless inning of relief to get the win. Southern Wayne improved to 6-8 overall.

* Baseball: South Johnston 6, Eastern Wayne 5 -- Benito Avila, Jake May and Tyler Ware each tallied two hits for the Warriors. May tossed six innings and allowed two earned runs, but was saddled with a no-decision. Eastern Wayne dropped to 10-6 overall.

Middle schools

* Soccer: Eastern Wayne 4, Greenwood 1 -- Megan Mozingo scored twice for Eastern Wayne. Kayla Wiebe and Destinee Gardiner also scored. Kaylah James scored Greenwood's lone goal. Eastern Wayne (6-1-0 overall) plays host to Norwayne on Tuesday.

* Softball: Princeton 5, Four Oaks 1 -- Logan Pace, Savannah Massengill and Katelyn Edwards each contributed three hits for the Bulldogs. Charley Cox, Kasey Edwards, Tori Paul and Carson Braswell each tallied two hits. Courtney Myers and Jasmine Bombard both had one hit. Massengill pitched all seven innings and recorded seven strikeouts.

* Baseball: Wayne Christian 18, Neuse Christian 4 -- Bryce Norman paced the Eagles at the plate with four hits. Tanner Rose and Jacob Riffle each added three hits. Wayne Christian improved to 7-3 overall. The Eagles will travel to Trinity of Durham on Tuesday.
