DUDLEY -- Not in our house.

Southern Wayne grabbed the momentum early and picked up a 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 senior night win over Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference volleyball foe Eastern Wayne on Tuesday.

Saints Senior Charity Wright hammered out five kills in the opening set and Stephanie Bellefeulle added three straight service aces down the stretch.

"Senior night has always been a special night for the girls," said Southern Wayne head coach Eric Durol. "We came out and wanted them to get fired up, and they started it right."

The Saints used an 8-1 run late in set two to turn a 17-14 lead into a 25-15 victory. Sophomore Madison Davis recorded a pair of kills and an ace during the second set.

Eastern Wayne struggled to generate consistency throughout the match, a problem that has plagued it for the majority of the season. After stringing together several consecutive points, the Warriors (4-17 overall, 0-9 ECC) would routinely have a kill sail wide or a serve land in the net.

"It's very mental right now," said Warriors head coach Tony Parrish. "I tried to get them prepared as much as I can before the game and I try to get the mental aspect. We're just going to keep practicing and start preparing for next year."

Wright contributed two more kills and an ace in the final set, while Davis tallied two kills and two aces. Southern Wayne rode the heels of an 8-2 run to pull away in set three.

Eastern Wayne travels to North Lenoir on Thursday, while Southern Wayne (3-12, 3-6) is the guest of Charles B. Aycock.
