Aycock splits pair of contests

ASHEBORO -- Charles B. Aycock split a pair of contests in the North Carolina junior American Legion state tournament at McCrary Park.
Aycock fell 4-1 to Mooreseville on Friday morning.
Adam Pate, Jordan Quinn, Tyler Ruffin (RBI) and Travis Musselman each collected a hit for Aycock.
Bryant Stafford took the loss on the mound allowing four unearned runs on seven hits with no walks and three strikeouts in two innings of work. Derek Limbaugh tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief. Aaron Champion also pitched 1/3 of an inning of shutout relief.
Aycock bounced back with an 8-4 win over Nash Central on Saturday morning.
Jordan Quinn packed the offense with three hits and two RBI. Adam Pate (two RBI), Travis Musselman (RBI) and Collin DuBose each added two hits. Tyler Farmer contributed a hit and an RBI.
Aaron Champion earned the win on the mound allowing four runs (two earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk in 41/3 innings of work.
Aycock faces the winner of the Cary/Rocky Mount game at 4:30 p.m. today.
