Eagles sweep WCDS

Rosewood claimed a 25-16, 25-20, 25-13 win at Wayne Country Day on Monday.

Amanda Benton provided four kills and four digs for the Chargers, who fell to 8-7 overall heading into today's match at Halifax Academy.

Laura Ziemer served three aces for Wayne Country Day.

Eagles top Cape Fear

Wayne Christian's Alicia Chong had eight kills and seven aces as the Eagles defeated Cape Fear in a conference game on Monday 21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-14. The Eagles secured third place in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference's South Division with the win.

Katie Daniels and Melissa Sheldon added six kills each for the Eagles (9-5, 5-5 Carolina Christian), who travel to Northwood on Thursday.

Rosewood defeated Wayne Country Day 25-19, 25-6 on Monday at the Chargers' gymnasium.

Jessica Larson led the Chargers (5-6) with two aces.

Wayne Country Day returns to action today at Halifax Academy.

Middle School

Norwayne d. Eastern Wayne 25-13, 25-10, 26-24 -- Anna Sullivan, Jennifer Warren, Dana Jones and Cynthia Burroughs paced the Cobras from the service line. Norwayne improved to 6-0 overall and clinched the Division I title with a 4-0 conference record. The Cobras host Grantham on Wednesday in their season finale.

Mount Olive d. Brogden 25-10, 25-18, 25-10 -- Lauren Darden, Melissa Ewers, Alejandra Ontiveros led Mount Olive from the service line. Mount Olive finished the season at 6-1 and captured the Division II championship with a 3-0 mark.

Grantham d. Rosewood 25-23, 21-25, 25-13, 16-25, 15-10 -- Lidija Selimovic served on 16 points with three aces and two kills, while Morgan Davis served on 17 points with seven aces. Rosewood's Paige Babb served on 28 points for the Eagles, who dropped to 3-4 overall heading into Wednesday's match against Spring Creek. Grantham (4-2, 3-1) travels to Norwayne on Wednesday.
