Rosewood shuts out Gators

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Rosewood's Brandon Hietpas scored on a free kick from outside the 18-yard box near the 20-minute mark of the first half as the Eagles held off county rival Spring Creek 1-0 on the road on Monday.

Antell Richards had eight saves for Rosewood (7-7-1, 4-2 Class 1-A Carolina/Super-Six), who turned in its third shutout of the season.

According to Rosewood coach Daniel Mitchell, the Eagles consistently struggled against the Gators' offside trap as the Eagles were whistled offsides 12 times.

Spring Creek dropped to 3-7-1 overall and 2-4 in conference play heading into Wednesday's home match against Hobbton.

Rosewood travel to Farmville Central on Wednesday.

Graham scores twice

in SW loss

WINTERVILLE -- Southern Wayne's Matt Graham scored two goals as the Saints fell 4-2 at South Central in a Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference contest on Monday.

Southern Wayne (2-7, 1-5 ECC) fell behind 3-0 after ten minutes.

Mario Segura had an assist for the Saints, who travel to Washington on Wednesday.

Hawks double-up

Cougars

PINETOPS -- North Lenoir's Alex McGaughy posted two goals as the Hawks defeated SouthWest Edgecombe 4-2 on Monday at the Cougars' field.

The win boosts the Hawks to 7-3-1 overall as they claimed their conference opener. The Cougars (8-6-1 overall) fell to 2-1-0 in conference play.

Israel Huerta and Josh Baird added one goal each for North Lenoir, while Josh Williams dished out two assists.

SouthWest Edgecombe scored early in the first half and late in the second half.

The Hawks host Washington today in a non-conference tilt.

Panthers remain

conference unbeaten

FARMVILLE -- North Johnston's Jake Lomonaco scored five times and recorded four assists to boost the Panthers to a 13-2 win at Farmville Central on Monday.

Lomonaco now has 28 goals on the season.

Heading into the second half of the Class 1-A Carolina/Super Six Conference season, North Johnston is 12-2-2 overall and 5-0-1 in conference play. The Jaguars (2-6-1) dropped to 1-4 in conference.

Raul Farfan scored twice for the Panthers, while Ashley Moore Miguel Rios, Jonathan Arthur, Nelson Reyes, Dale Price and Corey Narron scored one goal each. Farfan, Rios, Cameron Edwards and Garrett Stancil dished out one assist each.

Edgar Cardona tallied both goals for Farmville.

North Johnston takes on non-conference opponent Franklinton on Wednesday.

Tigers blast

Hobbton

James Kenan improved to 8-2-2 overall with a 7-0 win at home over Hobbton on Monday.

The Tigers travel to Ayden-Grifton on Wednesday.

Middle School

Norwayne 4, Eastern Wayne 3 -- Tyler Ruffin and Tucker Pearson had two goals each for the Cobras (6-0), who clinched the Division I championship with the win. Gavin Forrest added an assist for Norwayne. Walker Gourley had one goal and two assists for Eastern Wayne, while Andrew Lancaster and John Wooten had one goal each. Wooten also had an assist. Norwayne travels to Wayne Country Day on Wednesday.
