SNOW HILL -- Greene Central didn't surrender a game in either singles or doubles play and earned a complete 9-0 shutout against North Pitt in Carolina/Eastern Plains 1-A/2-A Conference action Thursday.
"We topped off a great two weeks of play today with another very solid, consistent performance," Rams coach Donald Clark said. "We've got a tough match with Spring Creek coming up next Tuesday when we get back, and I hope our excellent play this week will carry over despite the four-day break we're getting ready to take."
Two-time defending C/EPC singles champ Meredith Rouse, Sarah Moore, Summer Chase, Holly Mace, Ashley Harrell and Christi Murphy each earned a singles win. Harrell and Murphy share the team lead with eight singles victories apiece.
Clark cited the effort of Carly Hart-Michelle Jernigan, the Rams' No. 3 doubles team.
"Both girls have worked hard on their doubles game at practice, and they are getting to the net much more quickly," Clark said.
Greene Central (8-1) remained unbeaten in six C/EPC outings.
