MOUNT OLIVE -- Three-time defending Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference champion Charles B. Aycock posted their second shutout against a league opponent Thursday -- this time 9-0 against Southern Wayne.

The Golden Falcons exited the John Neal Walker courts, on the Mount Olive College campus, at 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the ECC. They continue play at Kinston next Monday afternoon.

"Aycock is really, really strong," Saints coach Brad Matthews said.

C.B. Aycock lost just four games in nine matches. Raychel Batts, Leslie Sasser, Carlyn Claiborne, Patricia Owen, Laine Purcell and Nicole Taylor each collected a singles win.

"We got consistent play throughout the lineup," veteran Aycock coach Luke Vail said. "It was a good win after the tough loss to Greene Central. The girls came out focused and kept their concentration for the entire match."

Southern Wayne (0-2, 0-2) plays host to Rosewood next Monday afternoon.
