West Carteret's Jan Dodge survived a pair of tiebreakers at No. 6 singles and that proved to be a crucial match in the Patriots' 5-4 win against Eastern Wayne on the Wayne Community College Courts.

Dodge outlasted junior Sammi Abrahamson 7-6 (4), 2-6, 7-6 (5) in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference match.

Second-seeded Ashley Smith, fourth-seeded Tricia Chatman and fifth-seeded Lauren Bynum each took a singles win. Chatman didn't lose a game, while Bynum escaped 7-5, 6-1.

The Warriors' No. 3 doubles of Smith-Abrahamson claimed an 8-3 win.

Eastern Wayne (1-2, 1-2 ECC) entertains New Bern next Wednesday afternoon.
