Golden Falcons begin with win over Cougars

LAGRANGE -- North Lenoir opened the season with a non-conference win Monday, sweeping West Craven 25-14, 25-11 and 25-19.
Chanee Lynch and Brittany Sanders led the Hawks (1-0) at the service line, with Lynch going 30-for-32 and Sanders 13-for-13 and both notching a pair of aces each. Randi Moulton had four kills and four blocks, while Shannon Plymouth picked up three kills and two blocks.
The Hawk JV was not as fortunate, falling to the Eagles 27-25 and 25-20. Bryn Fulghum was 9-of-10 from the line and Casey Harrison 8-for-9, while Brittany McPhail added two kills.
Both Hawks teams travel to Kinston today for an inter-county matchup with the Vikings.
