KINSTON -- Eastern Wayne moved into dual-team playoff contention with a 7-2 triumph Tuesday afternoon against Kinston at Bill Fay Park.

The Warriors claimed fourth place in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference and own a half-game lead against the Vikings. Kinston concludes its regular-season schedule this afternoon at Charles B. Aycock. A Vikings loss creates a tie for fourth place and forces a playoff match with the Warriors to determine the ECC's No. 4 seed for the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual-team playoffs.

Ben Ziccardi, James Arceneaux, Andrew Smith, John King and Chris Musser each collected a singles win. Arceneaux-King and Smith-Musser each prevailed in doubles.

Kinston defaulted at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
