WARSAW -- Barbara Witherington recorded 15 saves in goal and earned a critical shutout as Spring Creek knocked off James Kenan 2-0 in a Classes 1-A/2-A Carolina/Super Six/Eastern Plains Conference match Tuesday evening.

The Gators (4-5-1) handed the Tigers their fifth loss in conference play, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy.

"(We) controlled the ball well at midfield, pushing the ball to the forwards," Spring Creek coach Michelle Cobb said. "Christie Bradshaw and Stacey Zerkle were tremendous as midfielders.

"Heather Jones and Jamie Lee maintained the defensive stance for the Gators."

Bradshaw notched the game-winning goal in the seventh minute. She assisted Rachelle Mercatoris on the Gators' second goal with 19 minutes left before halftime.

Spring Creek took 15 shots on goal.

The Gators (4-5-1 C/SS/EPC) travel to North Johnston today.
