Tennis -- C.B. Aycock triumphs at Washington

WASHINGTON -- Washington triumphed in two of three doubles matches and clipped C.B. Aycock 6-3 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play Tuesday afternoon.

David Williams and Rich Holder, seeded fifth and sixth, respectively, each earned a straight-set singles win for the Golden Falcons. Neither player lost a game.

Williams teamed with John Ball to defeat the Pam Pack's Nathan Worsley-Andrew Omonde 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Washington, which clinched the ECC's No. 2 seed for the NCHSAA dual-team playoffs, captured four singles matches. Second-seeded Kevin Stancil outlasted Aycock's Brandon Howard 6-7 (9), 6-3, 7-5.

The Golden Falcons (11-7, 9-4 ECC) conclude their regular-season schedule this afternoon against Kinston.

The Pam Pack is 12-2 overall.
