Perry's 83 leads Warrior golfers

Miles Perry carded an 18-hole round of 83, leading Eastern Wayne to a third-place showing in a non-conference meet Monday afternoon at Walnut Creek Country Club.

New Bern's Ricky Stout earned co-medalist honors with 78 as the Bears emerged the top team with a 318. Wilson Fike finished with a 321, led by co-medalist Tommy Evelyn.

Brandon Turner complemented Perry's effort with an 85 as Eastern Wayne turned in a four-player total of 343. Teammates Robert Garris and Ryan Dunn collected scores of 86 and 89, respectively.

The Warriors (0-2) entertain New Bern and Jacksonville White Oak on Thursday.

Rosewood takes

Carolina 1-A meet

Shane Ogburn recorded a nine-hole round of 37 as Rosewood nipped county rival Spring Creek and Ayden-Grifton 160-161 in a Class 1-A Carolina Conference meet Monday at the Goldsboro Municipal Golf Course.

North Johnston was fourth at 168, followed by Princeton (170), Farmville Central (182) and North Duplin (189).

Jonathan Green added a 39 for the Eagles. Joey Wagner and Mitchell Ham each notched a 42.

Brandon Payson led the Gators with a 38. Patrick Wilkins and Stephen Warren each had 40. Billy Hamm contributed a 43.

Grayson Morgan finished two strokes behind Ogburn with a 39. Josh Bell contributed a 48, followed by Jonathan Lewis (49) and Dex Jackson (53).

Dustin Philyaw stayed on Ogburn's heels with a 38. Chris Edwards chipped in with 40, while Matthew White and Josh Wentz each carded a 44.

Addison Gainey led Princeton's foursome with a 39. Scott Woodard added a 40. Tyler Worley recorded a 44, while Riley Boyette added a 47.

The teams continue play next Monday at the Cardinal Golf Course near Kenly.
