Marjorie O’Neal Daughety Southerland, 95, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, in West Columbia, S.C.
Marjorie was born in Wayne County Sept. 16, 1922, to the late David J. and Fannie Mae McCarter Daughety. She was married to the late James Monroe Southerland Jr.
Marjorie was a graduate and also retired from Wayne Community College.
She was a longtime member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a past worthy matron of Goldsboro Chapter No. 54 Order of the Eastern Star.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro, followed by a service to celebrate Marjorie’s life at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Marjorie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sylvia Southerland of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Kimberly Southerland of California and Sarah Zills and husband, John, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Marjorie to the American Cancer Society, 930B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834.
