ADENE GINN EASON

Aug. 17, 1930-Aug. 13, 2018

Adene Ginn Eason, LaGrange, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2018.

Adene was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Greene County to the late Willie Jack Ginn and Sadie Ham Ginn. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Wells Eason.

As matriarch of her family, Adene took every opportunity to brag about the accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked hard to promote the family legacy began by her husband and later carried on through her sons. Adene was a fixture at Ken’s Grill. She loved serving as hostess and took great pride in taking care of all who dined with them. Wherever Adene traveled she did her best to promote her boys and the family business.

A woman of strong faith and a believer in the power of prayer, Adene was a longtime member of Beston United Methodist Church. She had a great love of music and truly enjoyed singing in the choir. The music Adene enjoyed the most was provided by her family. She always beamed with great pride when listening to her granddaughter play the piano.

Adene found great pleasure in tending to her yard and flowers. She loved cutting her own grass and everything had to be just right. Her green thumb served her well in taking care of her beloved zinnias.

Adene was one who liked being on the go. In her beloved Buick, Adene was off to her next adventure. Whether heading to the grill, shopping or visiting family, Adene tackled everything with determination and drive.

Ken, Jane, David and their families have many fond memories of sitting around her table enjoying good food and fellowship. In their eyes no one fixed better homemade chicken pastry, lemon pies and pound cakes. The love she provided was even better than the food.

Blessed with a heart and concern for helping others, Adene enjoyed working over 50 years as a registered nurse. Her career began at Lenoir Memorial Hospital and she later retired from Caswell Center. Never one to be idle, Adene’s final chapter in her nursing career led her to work part-time for Maury Correctional Center. A proud moment for Adene was when her daughter, Jane, decided to also embark on a career in nursing.

A service to celebrate Adene’s life will be Thursday, Aug. 16, at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Adene is survived by three children, Ken Eason and wife, Teresa, Jane Richter and husband, Mike, and David Eason; five grandchildren, Kendi Davis and husband, McClain, Kari Mewborn and husband, Josh, Paul Richter, Matthew Richter and Daniel Richter; six great-grandchildren, Warren, Blake, Emma, Jonah, Drew and Levi; and three siblings, B.G. Ginn, Minnie Howell and Margaret Whitley.

Family and friends will be received Thursday an hour before the service. At other times the family will be at the home of Mike & Jane Richter, 211 Stratford Road, Goldsboro.

Adene’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Brookdale Assisted Living, Southeastern Medical Oncology Center and her many caregivers for their outstanding care and support. Words don’t begin to express our gratitude for all you have done. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Adene’s memory may be made to Beston United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. George Ritko, 1501 East Mulberry St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
