THOMAS E. "GABBY" HAYES

Thomas Eugene "Gabby" Hayes, 83, passed away Saturday at his residence.
Born in Murray County, Ga., he was the son of the late Thomas Walker Hayes and Mamie Jo Greene Hayes.
He served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years and after retiring, along with his wife, Sally, they operated Hayes' Greenhouse on Old Grantham Road for many years.
A service to celebrate Gabby's life will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eric Burmahl officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior the service.
Gabby is survived by his wife, Eva "Sally" Hayes; a son, Michael Hayes and wife, Tracy; stepsons, James Cantrell and wife, Cheryl, and Levern Cantrell; grandchildren, Nicole Plummer, Shawn Cantrell, Kevin Hayes and Jamie Hayes; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters.
