Shane Burchett, 15, Wilson, N.C., a loving son, brother and friend, passed away May 11, 2018.
Shane was born Nov. 15, 2002, the son of Aaron Burchett and Amy Burchett (Goras).
He was a freshman at Fike High School.
Shane lived his life to the fullest, always embracing new adventures and challenges.
He was an active member of the Air Force Junior Reserve Office Training Corps (JROTC), played the saxophone for the Fike High School concert band and completed the spring season as a member of the Fike High School tennis team.
Outside of school activities, Shane attended the youth group at First Presbyterian Church in Wilson.
Shane is survived by his parents, Aaron Burchett from Seven Springs, N.C., and Amy Burchett of Wilson, N.C., and his older brother, Ian.
On his maternal side, Shane leaves his grandmother, Joyce Macrania; aunt, Tina Fyock; uncle, Roger Fyock; aunt, Beth Lostal; and cousins, Tyler Fyock, Cianna and Kaitlyn Lostal.
On his paternal side, Shane leaves his stepmother, Brandi Burchett; stepsister, Summer Wilson; stepbrother, Bryon Croom; grandparents, Jane and Fred Brashear; uncle, Fred Brashear III and wife, Courtney; aunt, Deana Burchett; and cousins, Jamie and Cadence.
Shane was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Irene Macrania, who passed in February of 2003.
A memorial service is being held Thursday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church located on 414 Sunset Road NW, Wilson, N.C., 27893.
The family will greet friends following the service in the church youth center.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to Fike High School in the name of Shane Burchett and mention one of the following: the concert band department, tennis team or the Air Force Junior Reserve Office Training Corps (JROTC).
