Mr. Lemuel Maurice Best, retired farmer and longtime resident of the Mount Olive area, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 2, 2018, at his home at the age of 89.
A service to celebrate this life will be Friday, May 4, at 2 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with pastor Jeff Dail officiating. Burial will follow the service at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
The family will receive friends at the church during the hour before the service and at the Best home at other times.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mount Olive, N.C.
Mr. Best is survived by his children and their spouses, Benny and Phylis Best and Garry and Betty Best all of Mount Olive and Cynthia B. and Franklin Aycock of Pikeville, and two granddaughters, Heather and Orian Aycock of Pikeville.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Muriel Jones Best; his parents, Luby and Alice Summerlin Best; and his two brothers.
Sincere gratitude is expressed to Community Health and Hospice for its gentle care and support shown to Mr. Best and his family. Its efforts enhanced his last days in a most positive way.
