DONNIE VANCE HILL

July 26, 1957-May 1, 2018

Donnie Vance Hill, 60, Mount Olive, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Wayne UNC Hospital surrounded by his family.

Donnie was born in Wayne County July 26, 1957, to the late William Vance Hill and Virginia Britt Hill.

He was a farmer, and many of his happiest times were spent atop one of his tractors on the family farm.

Donnie was known for his hard work and was honored in his calling; for they who labor in the earth are the chosen people of God.

Donnie had a wonderful sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously. He was a good friend and a great husband and had a generous heart.

Donnie was a member of Eureka Christian Church.

A service to celebrate Donnie’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2018, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday following the service and other times at his home.

Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Eureka Christian Church Cemetery.

Donnie is survived by his devoted wife, Bertha Faye Smith Hill; sons, Jackie O’Quinn and wife, Carmen, and Stacy O’Quinn and wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Ayden, Liberty, Alexis and Edgar; sisters, Jennifer Hartley and husband, Jesse, and Sherrie H. Davis and husband, Rex; nephew, Chad Davis and wife, Jenny; and a good friend of the family, Elton Wayne Bryan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Fay Hill, and nephew, Jason Ray Davis.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the doctors and the wonderful staff at SMOC for the love and care they provided for Donnie during his fight with cancer, as well as for the wonderful staff on the fourth floor of Wayne UNC Healthcare. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
