LAROSE W. CAISON

Sept. 28, 1925-April 27, 2018

LaRose Whaley Caison, 92, Goldsboro, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Rex Hospital, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Caison was born on Sept. 28, 1925, to the late Rexford L. and Berta T. Whaley. She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School and was an auditing supervisor with Sears and retired in 1991 after 36 years of service. After her retirement, she volunteered at Wayne Memorial Hospital for several years and was awarded Volunteer of the Year.

LaRose was married to Wyatt L. Caison for 42 years until his death in 1987. She also helped her husband in the family owned grocery store business on Royall Avenue. She loved the Lord and was a member of Stoney Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church on Stoney Creek Church Road in Goldsboro.

Her greatest love and pride was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She treasured every moment she spent with her family and friends, especially her precious niece, Margie Savage, and special friends, Randy and Diane Hill. She loved playing canasta with her friends when she visited her "other home" in Surf City.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Whaley Sr. and Ralph Whaley, and her sister, Janice W. Collier.

She is survived by her children, Joy Wiggs (Bill) of Pikeville, Ken Caison of Greenville, and Debbie Griffith (Stan) of Surf City. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Angie (Andy) Thompson, Michael (Kelly) Wiggs, Allicyn (Cale) Turnage, Shelley Caison and Christie (Gregg) Jones; and great-grandchildren, Michaela and Colby Thompson, Daylan and Mylee Wiggs, and Daniel and Nicholas Jones.

A service to celebrate LaRose Caison's life will be held on Monday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Stoney Creek Original Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Barry Williamson officiating. Family will receive friends immediately after the service. The family will also receive friends at Mrs. Caison's home. The interment will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park cemetery.

Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts in her memory may be made to Stoney Creek Church Day Camp. Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home is serving the Caison family and online condolences may be directed to www.shumate-faulk.com.
