PATRICIA M. HARDY

May 29, 1934-March 9, 2018

Patricia Moriarty "Pat" Hardy, 83, Kinston, quietly and peacefully passed away Friday, March 9, 2018.

Pat was born May 29, 1934, in Holyoke, Mass., to the late Francis Moriarty and Helen Flynn Moriarty.

Her husband, Lamm Mewborn Hardy, preceded her in death.

Proud of her Irish heritage and a lady of strong Catholic faith, Pat met Lamm, a young man from La Grange, N.C., serving in the United States Air Force. A romance blossomed that led to marriage and a long, happy life in LaGrange.

Pat relished her role as matriarch of the family. Life for Pat revolved around taking care of her family and ensuring its happiness.

Her sense of fashion and style served her well during her years of owning The Style Shoppe and working as a buyer for Hardy's Young Men's Shop.

Pat had a presence and a larger-than-life personality that captivated everyone when she entered a room. Feisty, independent, strong-willed and somewhat opinionated, Pat loved spirited conversation and debating her views.

She was well read and an avid student of history.

A true diehard Republican, Pat loved getting her daily briefing on the events of the country and world from Fox News Channel.

Her family has many fond memories of her amazing skills in the kitchen. No one prepared Lobster Newberg and pecan pie better than she. Keeping with catholic tradition, fish and shrimp were always served on Friday.

A memorial service to celebrate Pat's life will be held Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 4 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home, with pastor Bob Smith officiating.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Pat is survived by four children, David Michael Hardy and wife, Tracey, Donald Hugh Hardy, Daniel Flynn Hardy and wife, Pat, and Mary Catherine Williams and husband, Scott.

She also has five precious grandchildren, Taylor Michael Hardy, Phillip Lamm Hardy, Daniel Flynn Hard Jr., Jules Williams and Grace Williams.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Clara Brown.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Pat's dedicated caregivers, April Battle, Debra Ingram, Emma Blackwell, Benita Monroe, Janet Edwards, Mary Travis and others, for their loving care and support.

A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the memorial service on Sunday.

Pat's family will receive visitors during other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Williams, 3433 Lakeview Trail, Kinston.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Outreach Program at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 400 Academy Heights Road, Kinston, N.C., 28504.

Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home of LaGrange.
