CECIL SAVAGE

Cecil Savage, 83, resident of the Mount Olive/Calypso areas, native of Tarboro and former longtime resident of Dudley, died early Wednesday morning, Feb. 28, at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
In recent weeks, he had been lovingly cared for at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston.
He was the son of the late Ellie Savage and Gertrude Williamson Savage, and was raised in part by an older sister, Rachel.
He grew up in a farming background, and early adulthood found him as a farmer.
He served in the United States Air Force, had been a truck driver and had been employed with Ralph Britt Farms.
He attended Garner's Chapel Baptist Church with his wife for many years.
He was an avid fan of golf and baseball and pretty cars, especially the expensive ones.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty "Sis" Britt DeLuca, and is survived by her two sons, John DeLuca and wife, Sandy, of Raleigh and Jim DeLuca and wife, Janna, of Kernersville; four stepgrandchildren, Tiffany, Jamie, Cole, and Summer DeLuca; nephew and family, who became his adoptive children, Ralph Britt Jr., wife, Suzanne, and sons, James and Luke, all of Mount Olive; along with several of the Britt siblings and spouses, and nieces and nephews.
Also surviving him is a special caregiver, who became as a daughter, Teresa Holland of Pink Hill.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with Dr. Greg Day officiating, followed by burial at Wayne Memorial Park.
A brief visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m., and afterward at the cemetery.
