Melissa A. Smith, 110 Buckson Drive, Goldsboro, died unexpectedly Jan. 29 at her home. She was 58.
She was activities coordinator at Woodard Care, and a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.
Melissa was born April 29, 1959, in Edenton, daughter of L.F. "Bud" Amburn Jr. of Martinez, Ga., and Emily G. Amburn.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Katie (Nick) Tatman of Beaufort, and a son, Jordan L. (Rachel) Amburn of Newport.
She was preceded in death by another son, John R. Smith Jr. of Morehead City, and a brother, L.F. Amburn III of Edenton.
Also surviving are two sisters, Martha Chapman of Washington, D.C., and Greer (Scott) Cawood of Winston-Salem, and a brother, Paul G. (Kasey) Amburn of Raleigh.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, with the Rev. Terry Williams of Rocky Mount officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pine Forest United Methodist Church, 867 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
