Eldridge Ray "Buddy" Brock, 78, of the Brock's Chapel section near Mount Olive, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, while at Rex Hospital, leaving a diseased, well-worn body behind to receive the ultimate healing and to be forever with his Lord and saviour.

Buddy was the founder of Brock's Plumbing, which later became Brock's Septic Tank Service, Sand & Gravel. He was a member of Brock's Chapel Church where he served on the board of deacons and had been instrumental in all facets of church programs for many years. He was a charter member of Oak Wolfe Volunteer Fire Department and was instrumental in the construction of its first building.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Currie and Eva Holmes Brock; and a brother, Jimmy Brock.

Surviving are his wife of almost 61 years, Margaret Miller Brock; three children and their spouses, Ronnie and Zoila Brock, Tommy and Amanda Brock, and Connie B. and John Lupton; a sister, Marlene B. Moody; a brother and sister-in-law, Curt and Janice Brock, all of the Brock's Chapel community; five grandchildren, Adam Eldridge Brock and friend, Chelsey, Alexis Forney Short and husband, Slade, Willard "Willie" Ray Forney, Samantha Jo Grady and husband, Jamie, and Alton "Al" Ray Jones; and three great-grandchildren, Jamie Grady Jr., Brayden Standring, and Rylee Standring; several nieces and nephews; many cousins; and many dear and devoted friends.

The family will have visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, and at other times, they will be at home. Funeral services will be held at Brock's Chapel Church at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 22, at which time his life will be celebrated, as well as his homegoing. Services will be led by the Rev. James Earl Herring, with burial following in the Pate Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Brock's Chapel, c/o Lynn Herring, 519 Tram Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
