Paul B. Edmundson Jr., 88 years, 8 months and 15 days, passed away Jan. 3, 2018.

Paul was born in Goldsboro, N.C., to the late Paul B. Edmundson and Lelia Davis Edmundson.

He was baptized, and attended First Baptist Church.

Paul grew up in Goldsboro, and attended Goldsboro City Schools.

He was active in Boy Scouts, and received his Eagle Award in 1944.

Paul graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1947.

After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and entered The Citadel.

Following his honorable discharge, he transferred to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1948, where he entered law school.

There he met the love of his life, Nancy Broussand. They were married in 1952, and welcomed their first son, Burt, in 1953.

Paul received his Bachelor of Law degree in 1954, and also passed the North Carolina State Law Board that same year.

Paul and Nancy moved back to Goldsboro, and he joined his father in law practice at Edmundson and Edmundson, attorneys at law.

They attended Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Their second son, Richard, was born in 1956, and they welcomed their daughter, Bettie, in 1958.

Paul received his private pilot's license in 1966.

He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Paul was a member of the Goldsboro Rod and Gun Club and The Nomads of Mattamuskeet. He was a life member of Elks Lodge No. 139 and Masonic Lodge No. 0112.

Paul practiced law in Goldsboro for 55 years until his retirement in 2010.

He lost his beloved wife of 62 years, Nancy, in 2014.

Paul is survived by his sons, Paul B. Edmundson III (Deborah) of Princeton and Richard G. Edmundson (Barbara Jo) of Burke, Va.; daughter, Nancy E. Hopkins (Phillip) of Charlotte, N.C.; and his sister, Ruth Bondurant of Statesville, N.C.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Virginia E. Hopkins, Mary K. Hopkins, Nancy J. Edmundson and Jessica M. Royal.

A service to celebrate Paul's life will be Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ray Hanna officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

A private inurnment will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
