James Ruben Wyatt, beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin unexpectedly passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, in Columbia, S.C.

He was 42 years old.

The family will receive friends with open casket from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Kornegay and Moseley Funeral Home, 4645 Hardscrabble Road, Columbia, S.C., 292239.

A funeral service will be held Sunday beginning 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 at Kornegay and Moseley Funeral and Cremation Service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Transitions, 2025 Main St., Columbia, S.C., 29201.

James was born in January 1975 at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.

He was the son of retired United States Army infantry James Michael Wyatt and the late Barbara Draughon Wyatt.

He was a 1993 graduate of Spring Valley High School, Columbia, S.C. He attended Midlands Technical College.

James was past owner of "Lawn Enforcement," and greatly enjoyed the landscaping business.

He worked for a large grocery business when he passed.

He will always be remembered as a caring, outgoing and a very pleasant person to be around. He had a smile that always lit up the room and magnetic personality, and was a special person, who comes along once in a lifetime.

James never met a stranger. James always lived his life to the fullest up to the day he passed.

He was exceptionally proud of his daughter's athletic and academic achievements.

Throughout his life he valued friendship and respect for others.

The lord has called him home, and he will be reunited with his mother once again.

Surviving are his father, James Michael Wyatt and stepmother, Leslie Ptashkin Wyatt of Columbia, S.C.; beloved daughter, Shelby Nunley Wyatt of Tennessee; a sister, Rebecca Wyatt McLaws of Canton, Ga.; stepsisters, Nicole Ptashkin Sherman (Matt) of Columbia, S.C., and Amanda Ptashkin of Atlanta, Ga.; adored aunts, Brenda Draughon Shafer (Gary) of Raleigh, N.C., Beverly Draughon Thomas (David) of Pikeville, N.C., Barbara Specht (Al) of Toledo, Ohio, and Karen Fruiter (Chris Napolski) of Onsted, Mich.; beloved uncle of Hunter and Ethan McLaws of Canton, Ga.; cousins, Matt, Ashley and Justin Thomas of Pikeville, N.C., Mark Shafer (Amber) of Raleigh, N.C., Amy (Robert) Adkins of Spring, Texas and Al Specht Jr. and Heather (Scott) Specht Taylor of Maumee, Ohio.

The family wishes to thank the ambulance crew and Providence NE emergency room staff for their efforts to save James.

Rest in peace our Jamie. We miss you; we will always love you.
