JOHN CLEVELAND DAVIS

John Cleveland (JC) Davis, 81, of Wilmington, peacefully passed away on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Sea Lawn Memorial Park in Hampstead, with services conducted by the Rev. Brad McDowell.
JC was a member of First Christian Church Wilmington. He was very active in the church, serving as a lifetime member on the board at Christmount. JC had a distinguished career as a United States Air Force pilot for more than 20 years, including one tour during the Vietnam War.
He subsequently enjoyed second careers as a building contractor and in finance, working with his son's company, Chadsworth Columns.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty D. Davis, of Wilmington, N.C.; and his parents, Burl and Myrtle Davis of Garden City, Kan.
JC is survived by his son, Randall A. Davis Sr. and wife, Rhonda, of Smithfield, N.C.; his son, Jeffrey L. Davis of Figure Eight Island, N.C.; and his daughter Valinda D. Borders of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren, Patrick W. Borders (Ricky) and wife, Amy, of Wilmington, N.C.; Randall A. Davis Jr. (Allen) and wife, Jenni, of Apex, N.C.; Brian C. Borders and wife, Lindsey, of Wilmington, N.C.; Lauren D. Smith and husband, Andrew, of Cary, N.C.; and Valerie B. Davis of Smithfield, N.C.; and great-grandchildren, Christopher B. and Isabelle M. B. Davis, Taylor R., Caroline C. and Sebastian Borders, and Gabriel F. Davis. He is also survived by many special nieces, nephews and special friends.
