Charles Johnson Oliver, 67, Goldsboro, passed away peacefully Friday evening to be with his Lord and Savior at his home surrounded by his family.

Charles was born in Wayne County on Dec. 19, 1949, to the late Lee and Addie Raye Jones Oliver. He attended the Pentecostal Christian Assembly Church. Charles worked for Goldsboro Iron and Metal for 18 years.

A service to remember his life will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Reeves and the Rev. Jackie Hamm officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at his home.

Charles is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy Bartley Oliver; children, Katrina Sawyer, Leigh Ann Oliver, Johnny Oliver, Toby Hachten and Michael Hachten; grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan, Alyssa, Gaige, Karis, Avery, Cheyenne, Andrew and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Josiah and Eli; siblings, Louise Bennett, Lettie Reeves (Bill), J.L. Oliver, Lemoine Conner (David) and Sandra Blizzard (Leroy); his mother-in-law, Mary Bartley; sister-in-law, Shirley Edwards (Mark); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Oliver; sister, Paulette Oliver; brother-in-law, Pop Bennett, and father-in-law, Thomas Bartley.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
