Leslie G. Williams, 98, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

A service celebrating Leslie's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Wiggins and the Rev. Paul Rose officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery on Highway 70 West, Princeton. The family will receive friends on Friday prior to the service from 10 until 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 601 Fedelon Trail, the home of his daughter and son-in-law.

Mr. Williams was born Dec. 5, 1918, in Wayne County to the late Charlie E. Williams and Cora Mae Vann Williams. He was married for 70 years to the late Mae Davis Williams who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 2008.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Faye Williams Pearman and William Pearman of Goldsboro; his granddaughters, Tamara Pearman and husband, Dr. Steven Ward and Amanda P. Snavely and husband, Jeff Snavely, and his great-granddaughter, Mazzy Bijou Snavely of Raleigh. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lois Harrell and husband, Jordan as well as many loving and caring nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harvey Williams and Charles Williams; and sisters, Myrtie Sullivan, Ethel Pridgen and Sally Rose.

Mr. Williams had been a member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church for 60 years and had served as a deacon. His first and favorite occupation was a farmer, and many of his happiest times were spent atop his tractor on the family farm or in his garden. Mr. Williams had also been a partner in Rosewood Feed Mill before retiring and at the age of 80 he continued to work selling seeds and plants for J.A. Bedford.
