Patrick Cooke, 92, Chapel Hill, died at home surrounded by family Sunday morning, June 25, 2017.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pikeville Cemetery.
Patrick "Pat" was the son of the late William Luther Cooke and Roxie Belle Brown.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers and three sisters.
He graduated from Pikeville High School in 1942, and later received a degree from the University of Omaha.
After serving in the United States Air Force as an auditor for 20 years, he then worked as an accountant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 17 years.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Brigitte Gerda Sayk (they were married for almost 61 years); children, Carolyn, Elizabeth and Robert (Merri); and grandchildren, Patrick, Lillian and Jesse.
Funeral arrangements are provided by Casey Funeral Home in Princeton, N.C.
