Lugenus "Steve" Simms, 87, 6127 Blalock Road, Lucama, was called to eternal rest Friday, June 23.
A service of triumph will be held Saturday, July 1, at noon at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 Lane St. Ext., Wilson. The Rev. Jeffrey Simms will officiate. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Left to remember Steve will love and thankfulness are his wife, Louise Diggs Simms of the home; one daughter, Chakela Medose Simms Butler (Rickey) of Matawan, N.J.; three sons, Dexter Lugenus Simms (Patti) of Black Creek, N.C., Davis Reginald Simms and pastor Jeffrey Antonio Simms (Laura) of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters; one brother; five grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 6161 Lucama Road, Lucama, with the family receiving friends there from 7 to 8 p.m. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence, and will assemble there at 11 a.m. Saturday in preparation for the funeral procession.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carrons Funeral Home, 325 E. Nash St., Wilson.
