EDSEL M. HOLLAND

Died June 9, 2017

Edsel M. Holland, 92, Mauldin, husband of Eunice Coley Holland for 70 years, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, June 9, 2017, while at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Kenly, N.C., he was a son of the late Russell Manning Holland and the late Minnie Lee Barnes Holland.

Mr. Holland served in the United States Navy during World War II and Korea. He served on the USS Nuthatch minesweeper in the Mediterranean Sea.

In addition to his wife, Eunice, Mr. Holland is survived by three sons, Rusty Holland and his wife, Dawn, of Simpsonville, Donald Holland and his wife, Anne, of Greenville and Bruce Holland of Myrtle Beach; one daughter, Jan Holland Mills Souza and her husband, Mark, of Simpsonville; five grandchildren, Brandi Mills, Michael Holland, Jill Holland (Caleb) Wilkins, Ginny Holland and LeeAnn Mills (Matt) Faulkner; and six great-grandchildren, Piper Akins, Griffin Akins, Summer Wilkins, Koah Wilkins, James Thomas Faulkner and Presley Mills Faulkner.

A memorial service was held Sunday, June 11, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Mauldin United Methodist Church.

The family received friends at the church starting at 2 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mauldin United Methodist Church, 100 E. Butler Road, Mauldin, S.C., 29662, or Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, S.C., 29680.

The family would like to express its deep appreciation to the caregivers from Upstate Living Water Senior Care and Loving and Gentle Care for the wonderful care they provided.
