MRS. JOSEPHINE SMITH TAYLOR

Mrs. Josephine Smith Taylor, 83, lovingly known by her family members and friends as "Josephine," 307 Easy St., LaGrange, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at her residence.
Josephine was born in Jones County, N.C, Sept. 6, 1933, to the late Mr. Warren Smith Sr. and Mrs. Daisy Gooding Smith.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Roosevelt Taylor Jr.; her brothers, Warren Smith Jr., George Washington Smith and Henry Smith; and her sister, Thelma Nichols.
Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Rouse's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 4813 Rouse Chapel Church Road, LaGrange, N.C. The Rev. Harold O. Warren will officiate.
Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, 395 W. James St., LaGrange, N.C.
Also, a public viewing will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in Britt Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 414 E. Washington St., LaGrange, N.C.
Mrs. Taylor leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories to her two sons, the Rev. Thomas R. Taylor and wife, Geraldine, of Snow Hill, N.C., and Roosevelt Taylor III of LaGrange, N.C.; her four daughters, Jane T. Miller and husband, John, of LaGrange, N.C., Deborah Taylor of the home, Elizabeth Taylor of Kinston, N.C., and Gabrielle Taylor Alexander of Goldsboro, N.C.; her six grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her sister, Alma Harris of Fort Barnwell, N.C.; her brothers, Ezekiel Smith of Virginia and Lee Smith of LaGrange, N.C.; her godson, Archie Moore of Ayden, N.C.; her goddaughter, Gwendolyn L. Ellis of LaGrange, N.C.; her foster daughter, Lisa Grey of New Jersey; her beloved friends, Bell Jackson, Swannie Waters, and Lendell Wooten; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Sunday, May 7, 2017, the family members and friends will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Josephine Taylor, 307 Easy St., LaGrange, N.C., at 12:45 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
Flowers may be sent to Britt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 414 E. Washington St., LaGrange, N.C., beginning Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
