CATHERINE R. LANE

Feb. 8, 1928-March 1, 2017

Mrs. Catherine R. Lane was born Feb. 8, 1928, in the Scott's Store community of Duplin County, N.C.

Her parents were the late Mrs. Odie Carter Register and the late Mr. Joe Alton Register. She was their only child.

Catherine was educated in the Duplin County public school system. She attended Warsaw Elementary and B.F. Grady High School of Albertson, N.C., graduating in 1945. She was a graduate of King's Business College of Raleigh, N.C.

She was a stenographer for Job R. Wyatt and Son's Co. of Raleigh, N.C., for two years.

She moved to Goldsboro, N.C., and worked with Weil's Department Store's office.

She was later employed with Dillon Supply Co. as secretary and general office staff for 34 years.

Catherine took an early retirement in order to be a caregiver for her mother.

She believed in living by the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule, and was an advocate of fairness for all.

Catherine was married to the late Willard F. Lane for 25 years until his death in 1981.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with elder Trent Tripple and elder Gary Corbett of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will be receiving friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.

Survivors include her cousins, in-laws and special friends, all of whom she cherished dearly.
