Lessie Sutton Warren, 90, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Lessie was born in Sampson County Feb. 8, 1927, to the late Gus and Amanda Williamson Sutton.

She was married to the late Avener Sherrill Warren, who preceded her in death July 19, 2006.

Lessie was a member of Coker Memorial Church. She was devoted to her church, served in the Ladies Auxiliary and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

Her life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. Lessie dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, from noon to 1 p.m. at Rowan Baptist Church, 701 Rowan Road, Clinton, followed by a service celebrating Lessie's life at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary. Interment will be in Clinton Cemetery.

Lessie is survived by her daughter, Terry Featherston and husband, Rick, of Goldsboro; son, Sherrill Warren of Goldsboro; sister, Grace Parker of Clinton; her grandchildren, Ricky Featherston Jr. and wife, Rhea, and Amanda F. McKenna and husband, Michael; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Parker McKenna.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Minnie Lee Strickland, Eva Conner, Ann Lavin, Mamie Anderson and Janie Peters, and her brother, Gus Sutton.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Lessie's memory to Coker Memorial Church, 2643 N. Beston Road, LaGrange, N.C., 28551.
