VIRGINIA S. BAUHOFER
Aug. 3, 1928-Jan. 9, 2017
Virginia Sue Bauhofer, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to countless others, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, in Saint Simons Island, Ga.
She was married to John Edward "Hansy" Bauhofer for 59 years, and they lived in Goldsboro, N.C., for 44 of those years. She was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Goldsboro, hosting a Precept Bible Study in her home for over 30 years.
She is survived by her four girls, Sherry Davidson and husband, Gene, of Rome, Ga., Susan Battle and husband, Randy, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Anneliese Maddox and husband, Steve, of Saint Simons Island, Ga., and Jenne Hibbs and husband, Gary, of Sykesville, Md. Also, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Su Su." She is also survived by her two brothers, Joe and Leon Hughes.
Sue was precious. She was beautiful and full of grace. Filled with joy and love of life, she touched everyone who came in contact with her.
Family and friends were made richer and fuller because she had such a contagious, positive outlook. We are overcome with thankfulness to have had the privilege of being her children. She is in Christ and He is in us. Death cannot and will not separate us from that love. We have the sure hope of knowing we will see her again one day. Yet, in this hope, we will cry; she was and is worth every tear.
Anyone wishing to honor Sue can make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or Young Life.
