SAMUEL "SAM" BARKLEY II

Samuel "Sam" Barkley II, 1936 to 2017, transitioned into his eternal home Jan. 13, 2017, after a brief illness.
Sam leaves behind his wife, Monika; son, Samuel III and wife, Sheila, of Louisville, Ky.; and grandchildren, Samuel IV and Allison of Tampa, Fla., and son, Joseph and wife, Lahoma, and grandson, Joseph, of Frankfort, Ky.
Condolences are welcome; however, donations to the Wayne County Humane Society Pet Food Bank, 104 S. Center St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, in Sam's name would be much appreciated.
Funeral services will be scheduled at a future date in Nicholasville, Ky.
Sam, you not being in my world is not real, but I've told you for 30-plus years I was going to say this, and as much as it pains me, "I TOLD YOU I WAS SICK," I believed you this time. I just saw how hard you fought, and thought you had won, and you have. No more pain, just a glorious resurrection.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
