WILLIAM C. DAVIS

William Clarence Davis, 82, resident of Mount Olive, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, at Wayne Hospital.

He was retired with Mt. Olive Pickle Co., where he had been maintenance supervisor.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. from Rones Chapel United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Officiating will be the Rev. Valerie Hardison. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Friends and family are being received at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to Rones Chapel Church, 138 Garner's Chapel Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.

Mr. Davis was married to Beverette Wells Davis, and had he lived one more day, they would seen their 64th wedding anniversary.

He is also survived by his sons, William "Bill" C. Davis Jr. of Mount Olive and Christopher "Chris" James Davis and wife, Amanda, of Cary; two grandsons, Zachary and Jude Davis of Cary; and a brother, Alonzo James "Jimmy" Davis III and wife, Jean, of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by a 12-year-old daughter, Winnifred Wells "Wendy" Davis; his parents, Alonzo James Davis Jr. and Margaret Wheeler Davis; and a sister, Jacqueline Davis Mooring.

Mr. Davis, known locally for playing the harmonica and for his vocal talents, can now sing and harmonize in God's heavenly choir. He will be missed.
