MAVIS S. SCOTT

Mavis Sheppard Scott, 94, resident of the Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive, died early Sunday morning, Oct. 30, at Wayne UNC Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Jack Scott; a daughter, Carolyn S. Whitley; her parents, Ellis James Sheppard and Alma Jane Williams Sheppard; and two brothers, Preston Sheppard and Cecil L. Sheppard. Mrs. Scott was a member of Rones Chapel Methodist Church and had been active in local veterans organizations through the years in honor of her late husband's military service.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with visitation following. Burial will be Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery.
Family and friends are also being received at the home of Jack and Sharon Scott, 1793 North Beston Road, LaGrange, N.C.
Mrs. Scott is survived by two sons, Oliver Jack "Jackie" Scott Jr. and wife, Sharon, of LaGrange, and Walter Ellis Scott of the home; six grandchildren, Alan Whitley, Susan Whitley Joyner, Pamela Jane Scott, Joseph Alan Scott, Matthew Ryan Scott, and Willie Jack Rose; five great grandchildren, Matthew Scott Joyner, Andrew Thomas Joyner, Brantley Farmer, Allysa Rose and Nick Rose.
Arrangements are with Tyndall Funeral Home.
