Funeral services for Robert O. Hawkins, 89 years of age, 400 S. Clairborne St., Goldsboro, will be held Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. at Greenleaf Christian Church, 2110 N. William St., Goldsboro.
A viewing will be held at Greenleaf Christian Church from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be held Monday, Oct. 31, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Long's Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
Coach Hawkins was known to be an effective coach, a teacher who taught thousands of kids in the school system at Dillard and Goldsboro High School in Goldsboro, N.C., as well as Danville, Ky.
He was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Danville, Ky., to Anthony Hawkins and Susie Higgins Hawkins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Barnes Hawkins of the home, and children.
