JAMES O. GRIFFIN

James "Jimmy" Oliver Griffin, 79, Dudley, passed away Tuesday at his residence.

He was the son of the late Oliver H. and Emma G. Griffin.

Mr. Griffin was a United States Army veteran and an accomplished auto mechanic, having graduated from Diesel Technical College in Nashville, Tenn., in 1967.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Griffin is survived by a daughter, Angela G. Sides of Mount Olive; three sons, James E. Griffin and wife, Carla, of Goldsboro, Tim Griffin and wife, Rosa, of Farmers Branch, Texas, and Don Griffin and wife, Stephanie, of LaGrange; a girlfriend, Ann Coley of Kenly; two sisters, Mary Eva McKellar of Wilson and Jewell Autry of Wilmington; two brothers, Wendell Griffin and wife, Cheryl, of Dudley and David Griffin and wife, Joyce, of Wilson; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A sister, Olivia Whaley, preceded him in death.

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
