Died Sept. 7, 2016

Julius Guy Denning, 92, Newton Grove, N.C., went to his heavenly home Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, with his family and Duke, his cat, by his side at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. at Pleasant Union Christian Church in Newton Grove. The Rev. Frank Sandy and the Rev. T.J. Byrd will be officiating.

A visitation will be held at the church in the fellowship hall from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. preceding the funeral.

A graveside service will follow immediately after the funeral at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Guy was married to Easter Winifred Denning (deceased) for 61 years. She was his soulmate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Herman Denning of Grantham; brothers, J.W., Frank, Cornelius and Shelton; and sisters, Inez and Pearl Denning, Stella Porter and Clara Tetterton.

Surviving are daughters, Sannie Barefoot and Joey and Winnie Flowers and Rick, and grandson, Chad Barefoot and Karyn.

Also his great-grandchildren, Molly, Ashley and Bradley Barefoot.

He has one surviving sister, Ruby Boyette.

Guy was a World War II Army teletype operator.

After marriage he farmed, did furniture sales and EMT for Newton Grove rescue and was a salesman at Circle Appliances until he was 85 years old.

He attended Saint John Church, Pleasant Union Christian, and Taste of Heaven Ministries. He loved the Lord more than life.

When you looked at him, you saw love, and always received a hug.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to 3HC Home Health and Hospice Care, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
