Gayle Davis Grant, 70, LaGrange, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Gayle was born in Alexandria, Va., July 19, 1946, to the late Franklin B. Davis and Annie Mae Bellew Davis.
She retired in 2007 from the North Carolina Department of Corrections, where she was a therapist and supervisor for Dart/Cherry in Goldsboro.
Gayle was a member of the 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ in Goldsboro, where she was an active member until her health prevented her from regular attendance.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Gayle's life at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be Monday in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria, Va.
Gayle is survived by her son, David Bryan Nichols of Leicester, N.C.; daughter, Dawn Lee Nichols of Goldsboro; and two grandchildren, Cameron Nichols and Amysta Nichols.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Edith Mae Favill, Benjamin F. Davis and George Rodney Jennings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association, 514 Daniels St., No. 109, Raleigh, N.C., 27605.
