APOSTLE DENNIS RAY JACOBS

APOSTLE DENNIS RAY JACOBS

Nov. 23, 1952-Aug. 23, 2016

Apostle Dennis Ray Jacobs, 63, native of Goldsboro, N.C., ascended into the third heaven doing one of the things he loved other than research and study of the word of Yahweh (God, Lord); he loved a manicured lawn and surroundings Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016.

He was born to the late Hugh and Lila Barnes Jacobs Nov. 23, 1952, the fourth of nine.

Educated in Wayne County schools, he was a proud graduate of Goldsboro High School class of 1971. Apostle Jacobs attended Wayne Community College, and graduated in 2014 from Mount Olive University with his Bachelor of Science degree in religion.

A naturally gregarious individual, he worked in management with Burlington Industries and AP Parts for approximately 20 years.

A true and gifted musician, Apostle Jacobs began to play piano for the choir at his home church, New Greenleaf Church, at the age of 14. With his talent, he soon was playing for churches throughout the city and county.

Through many years of experience and the Holy Spirit's guidance, God anointed him to be a true praise and worship leader. He took great pleasure ushering people into the presence of God through music.

In May 1985, he was called into the ministry, and in September 1987, he and his wife, apostle Ravonda S. Jacobs, founded Christ Centered Church in Goldsboro, N.C.

In November 1996, God called and confirmed him to the office of an apostle. It was quite evident, due to the anointing to teach, the revelation knowledge, the fathering spirit and the ability to rightly divide the word of Yah, that he was recognized as a chief apostle. Apostle Jacobs commissioned many men and women of God to the office of the apostle.

He was a man of devout prayer and fasting and a profound lover of the truth. He had an unrelenting determination to help all people come to know God and the truth of God's word.

He was uncompromising, but yet compassionate. Apostle Jacobs was truly a man who lived what he preached. He was a beacon of light and source of righteous authority. His mandate was to teach and see kingdom knowledge brought, end-time truth taught and racism fought.

Apostle Jacobs was a member of the board of directors of Horizon Communications, and served as president of the board for three years. WHFL-channel 43 is located in Goldsboro, N.C.

He founded the CICAP Network, (Churches in Christ Apostolic and Prophetic), the RECAP Network, (Restoring End-Time Churches to Apostolic and Prophetic) in 2002 and Ephesus Training Institute (ETI).

Through the prolific nature of his character and extensive research, he authored four powerfully enlightening books, three of which are published.

He was preceded in death by Hugh Loron and Lila Barnes Jacobs (parents); deacon Ralph E. Barnes Sr. (brother); and two sisters, Brenda J. Reid and Rose J. Sherard.

God blessed him with the girl of his youth, the former Ravonda Shealy. They had been together since August 1969, and had been married since Oct. 2, 1977.

They have five children, Contonna (Darius) Peterson of Durham, N.C., Dennis (Robyn) Jacobs II "D.J." of Goldsboro, Ravonda C. Jacobs (Pinky) of Goldsboro, Sheena Jacobs of Durham, N.C., and Brittany (Tarnaus) Robinson of Goldsboro; 12 grandchildren, Jerry Barbry III, Imani Jacobs, Salim Campbell, Destin Jacobs, Asa Jacobs, Azurah Faison, Levi J. Evans, Abram Heath, Ahmon Heath, Sanai Heath, Morriah Robinson and Titus Robinson; two sisters, Sallie J. Lewis and Linda (Marvin) Bowman of Goldsboro, N.C.; three brothers, Hugh V. Jacobs of Charlotte, N.C., Chester (Oreta) Jacobs of San Diego, Calif., and Michael Jacobs of Goldsboro, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Betty Barnes of Dudley, N.C.; and one brother-in-law, Thedwood (Rudy) Sherard of Goldsboro, N.C.

Homegoing service will be held Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at noon, with the body lying in state from 10 to 11:45 a.m.

All services will be held at Goldsboro Raleigh Disciples Institute located at 214 N. Hooks River Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
